My Passion for Robotics & the Journey

Embracing my passion for robotics has been a transformative journey that began at the tender age of 8. My first exposure to this fascinating field came through a summer camp at Techknowledge Education in 2011, where I learned the fundamentals of robotics. Since then, my enthusiasm has only grown, leading me to participate in numerous competitions and join the robotics club at IIT Kharagpur.

Early Beginnings

My initial foray into robotics set the stage for a series of achievements. I participated in various competitions, earning accolades that fueled my desire to innovate and create. Some notable milestones include:

• Robofest World Championship: I proudly secured first place in the national round, qualifying for the finals in Michigan, USA. Although I couldn’t travel to the finals, the experience was invaluable.
• World Robot Olympiad: I achieved second place in the regional rounds in both 2014 and 2015, advancing to the national level each time.
• Winter School of AI and Robotics: After an intensive workshop focusing on computer vision and machine learning, I was awarded third place, further solidifying my skills in these critical areas.

Joining KRSSG

In 2022, I became a member of the Kharagpur Robotics and Software Systems Group (KRSSG) at IIT Kharagpur. As part of the software team, I have been involved in exciting projects that challenge our creativity and technical skills. Under the guidance of Professor Alok Kanti Deb, we focus on developing strategies for six autonomous soccer-playing robots within a decentralized framework.

Key Contributions

• Multi-Robot Strategy Development: My primary objective is to design and implement skills and algorithmic strategies for our soccer bots. This involves creating complex strategies using a multi-threaded Finite State Machine architecture and UDP protocol for server-robot communication.
• Performance Metrics: By instituting performance metrics on heuristic algorithms such as RRT-star, BIT, and A-star, we improved transition speed by 15%.
• Optimization Techniques: I executed multi-objective optimization to minimize time-distance complexity in exploration algorithms, achieving Pareto front solutions that enhance our robots’ efficiency during competitions.
